Vision and Goals

Plan Vision
The plan’s DRAFT Vision is a statement describing the future of Fergus Falls after the plan’s recommendations are implemented. It was developed and refined from the comments and ideas gathered through the Plan’s Project Steering Committee (PSC) and City staff, and will be validated through engagement with the wider Fergus Falls community:

Fergus Falls is a thriving, friendly community where people of all ages and abilities walk and bike for transportation, recreation and fitness, and where walking and biking are safe, comfortable, inviting, and convenient everyday activities during the entire year.

Fergus Falls uses a cost-effective and integrated 7Es approach (engagement, engineering, education, encouragement, enforcement, evaluation, and equity) to grow walking and biking throughout the community.

Fergus Falls is a national model for the integration and development of Active Transportation into the fabric of a forward-thinking community within a rural setting.

 Plan Goals
Goals for the Fergus Falls Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan include:
  • Analyze current conditions
  • Consider user wants, needs and comfort
  • Identify systems gaps and opportunities
  • Develop a city-wide network of walking and biking routes
  • Identify a set of priority goals, policies and projects for improving safety and connectivity for people walking and biking in the city
